Objectives:

• to review vocabulary of describing personality;
• to have practice in reading and writing a letter to pen friend;
• to develop students’ writing and speaking skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about pen friend

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. What is your real name?

Main activity:

Slide 6-10. Work with Student’s Book. Read the letter and name all the people in June’s life (ex.1, p.26)

Slide 11. Use the information given in the table to introduce and describe these people.

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. In the letter, find the words that mean the following and write them into your notebook (ex.2, p.28)

Slide 14-15. Work with Student’s Book. Find the missing word (ex.3, p.28)

Slide 16-18. Work with Student’s Book. Find all the sentences where June talks about the important people in her life. Then use some adjectives to describe what they are like (ex.4, p.28)

Slide 19. Make up sentences with the opposite meaning, change the adverb if necessary

Slide 20-21. Work with Student’s Book. Choose one person from June’s life and write 5 things he or she does every day. The others in the class should guess who the person is. What tense would you use? (ex.5, p.28)
