Objectives:

• to learn about verbs that use and don’t usually use in the continuous;
• to have practice in using them in the context;
• to conduct a survey among classmates;
• to develop students’ writing and speaking skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about activities

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 5. Quick Sorting Game.

Main activity:

Slide 6-7. Work with Student’s Book. GRAMMAR Verbs don’t usually use in the continuous Find these verbs in the article on page 14. What tense are they in? (ex.1, p.15)

Slide 8-9. Work with Student’s Book. Which of these words are also thinking, feeling and owning things? (ex.2, p.15)

Slide 10-12. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the sentences 1-4 using the present simple or present continuous of the verbs in brackets. Then correct the mistakes in the sentences 5-8 (ex.3, p.15)

Slide 13. Work with Student’s Book. Use the prompts to write questions beginning Do you… or Are you… Then walk around the class and ask people your questions. In pairs, discuss what you found out (ex.4, p.15)
