Topic: UKRAINE. The Population of Ukraine.

Objectives:

• to read a poem written by Vasyl Symonenko;
• to talk about the population of Ukraine answering the questions;
• to introduce the new vocabulary;
• to make up the sentences with the new words;
• to enlarge students’ vocabulary;
• to develop the students’ speaking skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to use the vocabulary in oral and written speech, to recite a poem written by V. Symonenko, to retell about the population of Ukraine.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Slide 5. Work with Student’s Book. Listen to the English and Ukrainian versions of the poem. Find the main, to your mind, lines of this poem and read them. Give your reasons why you think so. Try to think of your own poem. (ex.1, p.188)
