Objectives:

• to read a poem;
• to introduce and practise the new vocabulary;
• to make up the sentences with the new words;
• to read a text about the population of the UK;
• to answer the questions;
• to complete the sentences and a table;
• to develop the students’ reading, speaking and writing skills;
• to broaden the students’ outlook;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to use the new vocabulary in oral and written speech, to tell about the population of the UK.
