Objectives:

• to have practice in writing email invite friends to get-together;
• to learn to distinguish between phrases of invitation, acceptance and refusal;
• to develop students’ speaking and writing skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about spending time outside

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 5. Restaurant Vocabulary Bingo.

Main activity:

Slide 6-9. Work with Student’s Book. WRITE A) Read the three emails below and answer the questions (ex.4, p.62)

Slide 10-11. Work with Student’s Book. B) Read the set phrases given below and the phrases 1-4. In which part do they belong? Write the phrases under the correct heading (ex.4, p.63)

Slide 12. Work with Student’s Book. WRITE C) Write an email to a friend inviting him/her to go out. Swap with another student and write an email accepting or refusing the invitation. You can use the ideas you discussed in activity 3 (ex.4, p.63)
