Objectives:

• to learn about comparison of adjectives and adverbs and using them in the context correctly;
• to write a short paragraph about two of your favourite TV programmes;
• to develop students’ speaking and writing skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about entertainment

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Comparison Charades.

Main activity:

Slide 6-7. Work with Student’s Book. GRAMMAR Adverbs ( p.43)

Slide 8-10. Work with Student’s Book. GRAMMAR Comparison of Adjectives and Adverbs (p.43)

Slide 11-12. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the sentences with the correct form of the adjectives or adverbs in brackets (ex.3, p.43)

Slide 13-14. Work with Student’s Book. Listen to five TV programmes. What is each one? Write a-g next the numbers 1-5. There are two extra programmes which you do not need use (ex.4, p.43)

Slide 15. Work with Student’s Book. WRITE Write a short paragraph about two of your favourite TV programmes. Answer some of the questions in the box in the Writing section at the back of the book (ex.5, p.43)

Practice:

 Slide 17-18. Work in Workbook. C) Complete the sentences with the correct form of the adjectives or adverbs in brackets (ex.1, p.38)

Slide 19-20. Work in Workbook. D) Read the prompts and the adjectives again. Write sentences that you believe are true, using as..as or not as…as (ex.1, p.38)

Slide 21-22. Work in Workbook. E) Complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence, using the word given. Do not change the word given. You must use between two and five words including the one given (ex.1, p.38)
