Objectives:

  • to speak about teenager’s leisure ;
  • to improve listening skills;
  • write about the reasons why you enjoy the hobbies you have;
  • to develop students’ writing and listening skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about teenager’s leisure

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Your Experience. Answer the questions

Main activity:

Slide 6-8. Work with Student’s Book. a) Do the quiz in pairs. Find out if your partner likes to spend his/her free time outdoors or indoors. Pupil A asks, pupil B answers. Then take turns (ex.1, p.379

Slide 9-10. Solve cryptograms.

Slide 11. Work with Student’s Book. b) Find out your score and express your attitude to it (agree or disagree) (ex.1, p.40)

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. a) Before listening to the radio programme, read the statement, then agree or disagree with it (ex.2, p.41)

Slide 14-16. Work with Student’s Book. b) Listen to the extract of the radio programme and note some things which you consider to be important for a teenager (ex.2, p.41)

Slide 17. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Slide 18. Work with Student’s Book. Share your notes with your class (ex.2, p.41)

Slide 19-20. Work with Student’s Book. Match the words to their definitions (ex.3, p.41)

Practice:

Slide 30-33.  Task in Working Book. Sort out the hobbies and entertainment activities given in the box into the corresponding columns of the table below. Note that one and the same hobby can have several characteristics and go into more than one column. The first one is done for you ( ex.8, p.28)

Slide 34-36. Task in Working Book. Write about the reasons why you enjoy the hobbies you have. Consider the following questions ( ex.9, p.29)
