Objectives:

• to speak about team sport;
• to improve reading skills through doing tasks;
• to rewrite sentences in a formal style;
• to write essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of working out at a gym;
• to develop students’ writing and reading skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about activities

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Brainstorming Race.

Main activity:

Slide 6-7.  Work with Student’s Book. SPEAK & WRITE A) What are the advantages and disadvantages of talking up a team sport? Discuss (ex.3, p.98)

Slide 8-10. Work with Student’s Book. B) Read the essay and compare the ideas to your answers. Then answer the questions   (ex.3, p.99)

Slide 11. Work with Student’s Book. C) Read the plan in the writing section at the back of the book  (ex.3, p.99)

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. D) The phrases on bold are written in an informal style. Rewrite them in a formal style (ex.3, p.99)

Slide 14. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Practice:

        Slide 15-16. Work with Student’s Book. E) Write an essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of working out at a gym. Follow the plan in the Writing section at the back of the book  (ex.3, p.99)
