Objectives:

• to speak about newspaper themes;
• to have practice in compare any two newspapers or magazines and say how they offer;
• to design Your Class Newspaper;
• to develop students’ creativity and writing and speaking skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to speak about newspapers

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5-6. Newspaper Letter Scramble.

Main activity:

Slide 7-8. Work with Student’s Book. These are the usual newspaper themes. Match them with the pictures ( ex.1, p. 225)

Slide 9. Work with Student’s Book. Work in pairs. Compare any two newspapers or magazines and say how they offer. Give your comments on the way different topics are covered ( ex.2, p. 225)

Slide 10-11. Work with Student’s Book. Give an example of a newspaper or a magazine with a section which is extremely popular among the readers ( ex.3, p. 225)

Slide 12-15. Work with Student’s Book. a) Look through the list of items (1-14) and the extracts from a school magazine (a-e). Find the right heading for each extract ( ex.4, p.225)

Slide 16-17. Work with Student’s Book. b) Work in pairs and speak on the following (ex.4, p.226)

Slide 18. Gymnastic for the eyes.

 

Practice:

Slide 19-20. Work with Student’s Book. Work in groups. Speak about British newspapers and magazines (ex.5, p.227)
