Objectives:

  • to speak about teens health;
  • to improve reading skills through doing tasks;
  • to have practice in pronunciation letter combination oo;
  • to develop students’ reading and speaking skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about health

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

           

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Discussion Starter: "What Does Being Healthy Mean to You?"

Main activity:

Slide 6-8. Work with Student’s Book. READING   Work with partner. Look at the Teen Health website. What do you think the answers to the questions are? (ex.1, p.100)

Slide 9-10. Work with Student’s Book. Look at the questions on the Teen Health website. Match them to the paragraphs (ex.2, p.100)

Slide 11-12. Work with Student’s Book. In pairs, read the texts again. Tell your partner what they say about: (ex.3, p.100)

Slide 13-14. Work with Student’s Book. In pairs, ask and answer the questions (ex.4, p.101)

Slide 15-16. Work with Student’s Book. PRONUNCIATION  /u:/ and /ʊ/  Listen and repeat the sentence. Do both the oo words have the same sound? (ex.5, p.101)

Slide 17-18. Work with Student’s Book. In pairs, discuss whether you agree with the website’s answers to the teenagers’ questions (ex.6, p.102)

Slide 19. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Practice:

Slide 20-21. Work in Workbook. READING   Read the article and complete the text with the words and phrases in the box. There is one extra word or phrase  (ex.1, p.69)

Slide 22-23. Work in Workbook. Read the text again. Are the sentences right (       ) or wrong (        )?  (ex.2, p.70)

Slide 24. "Finish the Sentence" Activity.
