Topic: Geographical Outlook. Fact File

Objectives:

  • to speak about interesting fact files about the UK and the USA;
  • to have practice in making a geographical outline of the countries in a written form;
  • to work out Reading Strategies;
  • to develop students’ creativity and writing and speaking skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to speak about the UK and the USA

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. British Landmark Charades.

Main activity:

Slide 6-7. Work with Student’s Book. a) Use the information from the factfile below to complete the text ( ex.7, p. 216)

Slide 8-10. Work with Student’s Book. b) Make a geographical outline of the countries in a written form. The factfiles below will help you. Use the Passive Voice in your description ( ex.7, p. 217)

Slide 11-14. Work with Student’s Book. Before getting some more information about the climate of our country, read and guess the meaning of the following words ( ex.8, p.218)

Slide 15-16. Work with Student’s Book. Imagine you have got to give a lecture on the geographical position of Ukraine in one of American schools. Use the map. Point out the border, the bordering countries, seas, rivers and mountains of Ukraine. Speak about its climate and nature (ex.9, p.220)

ТЕХНІЧНІ МІНІМАЛЬНІ ВИМОГИ

1. Операційна система:

  • Windows 10 / Windows 11 (64-bit);
  • macOS 12.0 (Monterey) або новішою;
  • iOS 15+ чи Android 11+ (для мобільних пристроїв).

2. Офісне програмне забезпечення. Для коректного відкриття матеріалів рекомендовано пакет програмного забезпечення Microsoft Office 2021 або новішу версію (рекомендовано Microsoft 365). Допускається використання LibreOffice версії 7.5 і вище (дане програмне забезпечення є альтернативним, і потрібно розуміти, що можливе візуальне зміщення шрифтів, зображень, а також проблеми з відтворення мультимедіа чи відображенням зображень). Використання версій Microsoft Office, старіших за 2021 рік, може призвести до некоректного відображення презентацій, шрифтів, відео та анімацій.

3. Архіватор. Для розпакування файлів необхідно вкористовувати:

4. Мультимедійна підтримка. Пристрій має підтримувати сучасні медіакодеки (H.264 / AAC), необхідні для відтворення відео й аудіо, вбудованих у презентації. Для роботи з анімаціями необхідна підтримка DirectX 12+ (Windows) або Metal (macOS). У разі відсутності програмно забезпечення QuickTime https://support.apple.com/ru-ru/106375 можлива помилка під час відтворення вбудованого відео в презентацію, а саме «Носій відсутній».

5. Мінімальні технічні характеристики обладнання:

  • Процесор: не нижче Intel Core i3 або AMD Ryzen 3.
  • Оперативна пам’ять: від 4 ГБ (рекомендовано 8 ГБ).
  • Відеокарта: інтегрована Intel UHD / AMD Vega або дискретна.
  • Вільне місце на диску: не менше 2 ГБ.
  • Екран: роздільна здатність не менше 1366×768 (рекомендовано Full HD 1920×1080).

6. Інтернет-з’єднання. Для завантаження матеріалів необхідне стабільне підключення до Інтернету зі швидкістю від 5 Мбіт/с. Для доступу до інтерактивних компонентів необхідно використовувати сучасний браузер (Google Chrome, Opera, Safari або Mozilla Firefox останніх версій).
