Topic: Natural Disasters. Advertising an event

Objectives:

• to speak about advertising to event;
• to improve speaking skills through doing tasks;
• to make a leaflet advertising a school event;
• to develop students’ writing and speaking skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about environment

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Brainstorm Events.

Main activity:

Slide 6-9. Work with Student’s Book. SPEAK & WRITE A) Look at the leaflet advertising an event and answer the questions (ex.2, p.74)

Slide 10-11. Work with Student’s Book. B) Read the NOTE and replace the adjective nice in the sentences 1-4 (ex.2, p.75)

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. C) Talk in pairs. Imagine you and your partner go to different schools. Ask and answer questions about an event your school is organising to help the local community or the environment ( e.g. walkathon to rise money for people in need, a forest clean-up, etc.) (ex.2, p.75)

Slide 14. Work with Student’s Book. D) Make a leaflet advertising a school event. Read the tip in the Writing section at the back of the book and use the ideas you discussed in activity 2C (ex.2, p.75)

Slide 15. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Practice:

 Slide 16-17. Work in Workbook. C) Rewrite the sentences using a different word from the box to substitute the underlined ones (ex.1, p.63)
