Topic: Books. Ukrainian Writers.

Objectives:

• to read the biographies of the Ukrainian writers;
• to work in groups, completing the sentences and telling some facts about one of the Ukrainian writer;
• to broaden students’ knowledge about the Ukrainian writers;
• to develop the students’ reading, speaking and writing skills;
• to encourage understanding and tolerance to other people.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to tell some fact about the Ukrainian writers.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Main activity:

Slide 5. Work with Student’s Book. Look at the portraits of the writers, read the texts and match the parts of the text (1-4) to the portraits. What other Ukrainian writers do you know? (ex.3, p.142)

Slide 6. Look and say.

Slide 7-10. Read the texts and match the parts of the text (1-4) to the portraits.

Slide 11. Interactive task.

Slide 12. Work with Students’ Book. Work in groups. Each group chooses one person, completes the sentences and reads the text about him or her. (ex.4, p.143)

Slide 13-16. Work in groups. Each group chooses one person, completes the sentences and reads the text about him or her.

Slide 17. Work in Workbook. Read the text (Ex.3) and complete the table. (ex.3, p.69)

Practice:
