Objectives:

  • to speak about books as our friends ;
  • to improve listening skills;
  • to role-play the situations;
  • to develop students’ creativity and listening and writing skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to speak about books as our friends

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Main activity:

 Slide 6-8. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the sentences with the words from the box (ex.1,p.164)

Slide 9-11. Work with Student’s Book . a) Match the halves of the book titles (1-10) and write out the books you have heard about ( ex.2, p.164)

Slide 12. Which of these books you need if you want to…

Slide 13-14. Work with Student’s Book. b) Name the books that were made into films (ex.2,p.164)

Slide 15-16. Work with Student’s Book. Work in groups. Read and answer the questions (ex.3,p.165)

Slide 17-19. Work with Student’s Book. a) Listen to Terry Tomlin who is doing a research on the reading habits of teenagers. Here’s the interview with Gemma. Put the questions below in order as you hear them in the interview (ex.4,p.165)
