Topic: Listening to Music. The Mystery of Music.

Objectives:

• to make up the word combinations;
• to talk about a music role in the life;
• to revise Future Simple Passive Voice;
• to develop students’ speaking skills;
• to develop students’ grammar competence;
• to promote positive attitude to studying a language.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to use Future Simple Passive Voice in speech and express the opinion about a music role in their lives.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3.  Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Main activity:

Slide 5. Work with Student’s Book. Match the parts (1-8) to the parts (a-h) to make word combinations. (ex.5, p.99)

Slide 6. Listen and read a poem. Say why the author says that music is everywhere.

Slide 7. Interactive task.

Slide 8. Work with Student’s Book. Speak in class. Say what role music plays in your life. What emotions does it arise in you? Do you choose the piece of music to listen to according to your mood? Does your mood change while you are listening to your favourite melodies? Use the phrases from Ex.5 on p.91. (ex.6, p.100)

Slide 9. Read the questions. Speak using the given phrases.

Slide 10. Speak in class.

Slide 11. Work in Workbook. Grown-ups and teenagers have different tastes in music. Read the texts (1-4). Then write what negative and positive aspects of listening to music these people are talking about. (ex.2, p.62)

Practice:
