Objectives:

• to examine the textbook;
• to look through the units and say what is the most interesting one;
• to learn the icons of the lesson;
• to read the phrases and sort them out according to the speaker (a teacher or a student);
• to listen to the dialogue and it;
• to develop the students’ speaking and listening skills;
• to encourage understanding and tolerance to others;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to describe their textbook, to name the units and icons.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Introduction:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Aim of the lesson.

Warm-up:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. Answer the questions.

Pre-activity:

Slide 6. Look at the cover of the textbook and say.

Main activity:

Slide 8. Work with Student’s Book. Find these headings / logos in your book. Guess what they mean. (Ex.5, p.7)

Practice:

Slide 14. Work with Student’s Book. Group up these phrases into two columns. Column ‘T’ is for a teacher, column ‘S’ is for a student. Write your answers down into the notebook. Add any other phrases that you remember. (Ex.6, p.8)
