Objectives:

  • to learn about adverbs of manners and using them in the context;
  • to have practice in pronunciation letter i;
  • to complete the table about your family;
  • to develop students’ writing and speaking skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to speak about family

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5.  Family Charades.

Main activity:

Slide 6-8. Work with Student’s Book. GRAMMAR Look at the sentences from the listening and think about the words in red (ex.1, p.113)

Slide 9-10. Work with Student’s Book. Look at the sentences in Ex.1. Find three adverbs that don’t end in –ly. Write their adjectives (ex.2, p.113)

Slide 11-13. Work with Student’s Book. Look at the spelling rules below and then write the adverbs for the adjectives in the box ( ex.3, p.113)

Slide 14-15. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the questions with adverbs from Ex.1 and 3. Then in pairs, ask and answer the questions ( ex.4, p.113)

Slide 16-17. Work with Student’s Book. Correct the mistakes in the sentences ( ex.5, p.113)

Slide 18. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Slide 19-20. Work with Student’s Book. PRONUNCIATION The letter i In pairs, look at the underlined letters. What sound does i make in the words? Put them into the correct column in the table. Listen and check ( ex.6, p.113)

Slide 21-22. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the advices with the words in the box. Change the adjectives into an adverb where necessary ( ex.7, p.113)

Slide 23-24. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the table about your family. Under Interesting Information, put an adjective (e.g. clever) and a verb plus an adverb ( e.g. sings badly). In groups, talk about the people in your table ( ex.8, p.113)

Look at the adjectives and write the adverbs (ex.1, p.85)
