Objectives:

  • to speak about free-time activities;
  • to do the questionnaire in our class to find out someone’s preferences;
  • to improve listening skills through doing tasks;
  • to develop students’ reading and listening skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about free-time activities

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

 

Plan

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Slide 4. The icons of the lesson.

Slide 5. About You.

Slide 6. Word Association Chain.

Main activity:

Slide 7-9. Work with Student’s Book. VOCABULARY AND LISTENING Free-time activities In pairs, match photos A-E activities in the questionnaire. Which of the activities do you think are most popular in your class? (ex.1, p.86)

Slide 10-11. Work with Student’s Book. Do the questionnaire in your class. Walk around the room and ask people which activities they do in their free time, which they’d like to try and which they are not interested in (ex.2, p.86)

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. In small groups, look at all your results and write some sentences. Were you surprised by any of your results? Why? ( ex.3, p.86)

Slide 14-15. Work with Student’s Book. Listen to three young people talking about what they do in their free time. Write the activity or activities from the questionnaire below each speaker ( ex.4, p.86)

Slide 16-17. Work with Student’s Book. Listen again. Are the sentences right ( ) or wrong ( )? ( ex.5, p.86)
