Objectives:

• to talk about the countries and their capital city;
• to do a quiz about names of the cities;
• to develop students’ speaking and listening skills;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to talk about cities

Warm-up:

Main activity:

Slide 7-8. Work with Student’s Book. VOCABULARY AND LISTENING Places in a city Think about what you can do at the places in the box. Write five questions. Then test your partner (ex.1, p.64)

Slide 9-10. Work with Student’s Book. Match the words in the box to photos A-L. Listen and check (ex.2, p.64)

Slide 11. Work with Student’s Book. In pairs, talk about the city where you live, or your capital city. What things from Ex. 1 and 2 does it have? What are their names? ( ex.3, p.64)

Slide 12-13. Work with Student’s Book. What countries are these cities in? Which are capital cities? What are they famous for? ( ex.4, p.64)

Slide 14-15. Work with Student’s Book. Listen to the quiz. Match the cities in the box from Ex.4 to each question. You don’t have to use all of them ( ex.5, p.64)
