Topic: Moments in history. Women in History

Objectives:

  • to learn about dates with in and on;
  • to have practice in making past simple forms of regular verbs;
  • to improve pronunciation syllable when we say the –ed;
  • to develop students’ speaking and writing skills;
  • to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class.

Outcomes: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to speak about historical events

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Student’s Book, Workbook.

Warm-up:

Slide 2. Greeting.

Slide 3. Introduction. Aim of the lesson.

Pre-activity:

Main activity:

Slide 6-8. Work with Student’s Book. GRAMMAR Dates with in and on Look at the answers to the quiz again. Complete the rules for in and on (ex.1, p.33)

Slide 9-10. Work with Student’s Book. In pairs, test your partner ( ex.2, p.33)

Slide 11-12. Work with Student’s Book. Past Simple : regular verbs Read the sentences . Look at the letters in red. What do we add to the verbs to make the past tense? ( ex.3, p.33)

Slide 13. Gymnastic for the eyes.

Slide 14-15. Work with Student’s Book. Look at the verbs in the table. Write the past simple forms of the verbs in the box in the correct column (ex.4, p.33)

Slide 16-17. Work with Student’s Book. Complete the sentences with the past simple form of the verbs and in/on (ex.5, p.33)

Slide 18-19. Work with Student’s Book. PRONUNCIATION Listen to the –ed sounds. Sometimes we add another syllable when we say the –ed and sometime we don’t (ex.6, p.33)
